Since
1991 Rod Miller and his crew
have been hosting O Scale West. Held each year in the San
Francisco Bay Area, O Scale West promotes 2-rail O Scale modeling on
the West coast. This 3-day event includes home layout visits,
clinics, modular layouts, movies, contests, and a large sales area
where manufactures, dealers and private individuals display and sell a
wide array of old and new items. Also, since 2007 O Scale West
has been expanded to include S Scale. The S scalers have named their
side of the event S West with the sequential number of the event
appended, e.g., the 2010 event is S West 5.
To celebrate 2 decades of great
railroad modeling, Rod and crew will
host the 2010 O Scale National in the heart of Silicon Valley, Santa
Clara, California.
The convention will replace the 2010 O Scale West which is
traditionally held in the early February time frame. Note that in 2011
O Scale West will resume it annual early February meets.
Since the convention will be closely patterned after the O Scale
West meets, the committee has decided to simply combine the typical O
Scale West meet with the convention. To do that the traditional
convention banquet has been added.
Further, since this convention is a national event instead of the
regional event that O Scale West is, the committee is identifying
activities that would be of interest to the convention visitors who are
making an infrequent visit to the western U.S. so that the visitor can
take in as much of the area and its attractions, both model and real
railroading, and otherwise. as they can.
